Back on September 4th I told the world about my Candle Hoarding when I introduced my Project Ten Can. I’m proud to say that, as of this weekend, I am completely done with my first Project Ten Can! And so far, I’ve added zero additional candles to what is still a far-too-big stash.
Unfortunately, the love of pretty, shiny, good-smelling things hardly stops at the doorstep of candles.
I also collect lip balms.
Lots, and lots, of lip balms.
So I’m making efforts in that department, too. This is part of my unopened Revo lip balm collection. I love this brand, their balms are usually very moisturizing, smell great and even taste yummy. So its’ no wonder, really, that I have like 25 of them. In contrast, I’ve bought (and forced my way through) exactly 1 EOS balm.
Since I am endeavoring to simplify and use what I have, I decided to shop my stash for Christmas balms this year. Lo and behold, I had several unopened Revos from last year’s Holiday collection. And they’re within date.
So instead of checking out this year’s new line, I have instead decided to open up my Merry Mocha Mint, French Vanilla Snowflake and Sweet Sugar Plum balms and save myself about $10.
I intended to put one in my car, one on my side table and one in my purse, but instead they’re all sitting on my side table, cute as can be.
Some of the balms in the winter line up last year had sparkle. Of the ones I’ve had and used, French Vanilla Snowflake an the Sugar Cookies one have the sparkle. I don’t really notice it on my lips, but they are different than the other balms. For example, inside the jar I have several of the Spring line (I also have some Halloween and summer line ones, are you jealous?), the white one is Marshmallow Crème and it is -super- moisturizing. The ones with the glitter is less moisturizing, but they still smell incredible and I think the waxier consistency protects from the wind a bit better.
I admit that I like to shop a bit too much, but I spread the love. I had a lot more Revo balms than I currently do, but I have given them away (all new, rest easy!).
I’m getting better about it, too. Less impulse and ‘it’s on sale!’ buying for the last few months. Of course, a large part of that is because I’ve been pouring myself into design ; ) so I don’t ‘need’ to buy a lot of the things I previously bought.
Let’s hear it for growing as a person, eh?
