My Mother’s Day was lovely. But I wouldn’t have any other expectations, I’ve met my son. He and I had a quiet Friday evening and Saturday until evening together. With a quick run out to catch the ice cream man on Saturday we were waved down by UPS who had two boxes for us. One filled with girly goodies I had decided to treat myself to, and another with flowers. I was pretty excited!
The flowers were all buds that didn’t open up for about 5 days (interesting and different, the package didn’t expect this, either- claimed they would open within 24 hours).
Every day is Mother’s Day to me. I look forward to the day each year, but I don’t need it. My son makes me feel incredibly loved. He is such a blessing, and I use Mother’s Day as an excuse to really revel in how lucky I am. It’s a good thing every day isn’t literally Mother’s Day, because this year I met the undisputed best piece of carrot cake I have ever had. And I love carrot cake. Years ago, before Angel came along, Kevin and I had tried to have a late dinner at Spencer’s but were turned away (you had to be a member due to liquor laws, I believe). This time, however, we were granted entry and finished a very filling lunch with a slice of cake that we barely finished three ways. Whew. I’ve already decided where I will be having my birthday cake this year!
