Ahh, Summer. Shorts. Lemonade. And sales.
After Christmas is the worst time for me. What people don’t understand about, ‘Don’t buy me presents, just give me cash for the SALES!’ I’ll never know. Summer sales are no stranger to me either, though. I’ve not been nearly as bad as I was January-March but I’ve been having a little fun. I’m trying not to get too out of control. Here are some of my favorite splurges so far.
Bath and Body Works
Mm. Yep. Between the coupons and the sale prices on candles in the summer it can be very, very difficult to resist. Even without a coupon that Red Velvet Cupcake candle was $5. Hot Buttered Rum was under $6 and the Tis the Season and Black Tie candles were… um… cheap!
Three wick candles are a little bit of a prized-possession around here. I’m kind of picky about scents, though, and I much prefer fall and winter scents. I think it may also have to do with the fact that… Summer is HOT! What do I want with a bunch of open flames in my home while I’m paying for air conditioning? So stocking up for cooler weather, which will be here in no time (it’s Northern Utah, ya’ll!), is always fun.
“This Southern classic is perfect for the holidays- rich vanilla frosting and authentic red velvet cake.”
Um, yes please? This southern girl will be burning this in October for the holiday of MY BIRTHDAY.
And Hot Buttered Rum?
“An indulgent blend of buttered rum, vanilla and a hint of smooth caramel that’s perfect for a cold-winter’s night.”
These scents are my jam. I’ve never had a hot buttered rum, but the vanilla and caramel stood out to me big time in this baby. Since Cinnamon Caramel Swirl is one of my BBW all time favorites this one seems like a sure-win for me with its cold-sniff resemblance.
For good measure, a little bit of Christmas cheer. Because it’s not even July.
I used to have somewhat of a make-up buying problem. Mostly that’s behind me (though we all know that you don’t really beat such problems, you simply move them) but just because it isn’t a problem anymore doesn’t mean I don’t still do it on occasion. Frivolous indulgences happen. It’s just key to try to keep them from taking you over.
While shopping for someone else at Burlington Coat Factory I caught sight of the Cargo Northern Lights eyeshadow palette. I flipped it over and almost jumped up and down at the price- $12.99.
Oh, sweet siren. I do love eye shadow palettes! I managed to not buy the only two they had that weren’t smashed to hell, and just walked out of there with one for me. They also had several of the Shanghai Nights palettes, but again- all smashed to bits. WHY are people like that?!
I feel a panic and a shame for buying these things still, but if I can keep myself to just one every few months, and on sale, I think I’ll be ok.
P.S., I love this one : )
Hello, my name is…
You probably didn’t know, but I have a serious sweet tooth. To guard against it and not end up with monster-cravings and sugar crashes I save my sweet indulgences for only one day a week (Saturday).
I try to make those indulgences count, so when I saw one of my favorite sweets on sale I picked up the only two bags Target had and put them away. I also grabbed another item for the line I hadn’t tried yet: Hello, My Name Is Sweet Popcorn. I loved this one, too. So far some of this line is obviously more appealing to me than others, but I have yet to be disappointed. Glad to have plenty of Strawberry Cheesecake bites put away for the next several weeks *mmm*.
And to burn it off…
I took my new FitBit Charge HR in Plum (my fourth fitness tracker this year, can you imagine?) for a spin around a couple of malls and I came home with…
A MAJOR CASE OF SHAMEFACE. URG. Coupon: Used.
Pumpkin Cinnamon Bun is amazing. I can’t get enough of it.
Bourbon Butterscotch? Well, I loved the cold sniff but later changed my mind. Then my son knocked my 3-wick down so I re-potted it into an empty BBW jar and burned it since now it wasn’t exactly returnable. and it smelled like heaven. So I grabbed a bunch of those.
Mint Mocha Bark? MMMMMMM.
And I need more Pumpkin Caramel Latte.
To wash away the pain I stocked up on hand soaps. The one with the beads is not for me. I like the foaming soaps for the kitchen.
And for when water isn’t readily available, Pocket Bacs. Or, as they’re called in my house, Hanitizers.
I told you. You don’t really get rid of these habits. You just replace them with something : )
