Ruby – Layered Bird and Cage Silhouette Cut File

DIY (do it yourself), Freebies, Silhouette Cameo : , , , , | Comments Off on Ruby – Layered Bird and Cage Silhouette Cut File

It’s difficult to describe the satisfaction that comes with envisioning something in the night, snatching up my bedside sketchbook, scratching out my best (pitiful) efforts and then actually making that idea come to life.

I should dig out the actual sketch I did last month to really display how poorly I express myself on paper. But I’m just not sure I could survive the embarrassment of sharing with the class.

But get me into Illustrator for a little bit and I can get something presentable.

Meet Ruby.

Layered Bird and Cage Silhouette Cameo Freebie

Until this past Spring that was as far as I usually got. Occasionally I’d print a drawing, but mostly they just lived on broken-down hard drives.

But now, with my Silhouette, I think differently. That’s pretty cool.  I fill the space around me with the ideas in my head.

I’m starting to think that I’ve found my niche.

I’d love to see what others do with this. The piece I created was a lot of work, and it isn’t perfect, but I am very pleased with my efforts.

Once again, I am offering my work for free personal use. If you need to use Ruby commercially, please visit my Etsy shop, Echoia Design on Etsy. Commercial use means anything that relates to your business, or brings you income, in any way. This includes, but is not limited to, giving her away promotionally.  Such use is not permitted with this freebie! Thank you for respecting my time, effort and skills.

This week I am not offering a tutorial on how I created my final product. If you’d like to see a bit about the process, I’ve walked through the process before in my Create a Layered Pumpkin Cutout Using your Silhouette Machine post. Use the ‘Negatives’ file to create this type of design.

If you’d rather just use it for print and cut type designs, there’s also the ‘Positives’ file.

Have a Silhouettey Sunday : )

About EchoStenger.com

EchoStenger.com began in early 2013 as a side project of Echoia.com. Namely, Echoia Photography. Wanting to expand to include more varied content, it seemed only appropriate to change the site's title.

It currently is an outlet for many of my interests and passions. I share my work in and write tutorials for Adobe Illustrator, review products (mostly purchased by me), experiment with my Silhouette Cameo machine (hashtag vector in flesh!), share my day-to-day and still post photographs on a regular basis.

Thank you for visiting and coming along with me as I grow and seek out beauty in everything.

I am a Christian mom, girlfriend, dog-mom, cat-mom and pseudo step-mom. I take up hobbies faster than I can put them back down. I am from Texas, but currently reside in Utah.

I. Love. Air conditioning.

Fiona Apple.

Angel : My seraph son. I’ll likely speak of nothing and no one so much. Born October 2009. He likes the color orange blue and almost anything Marvel.

Veda : Black. Lab-like. Born Summer 2008. A life changer. Full name and title: Princess Darth Veda Jane Sultanfuss Stenger. Usually just Veda/Veda Jane when she’s bad. Also ‘Monster’. In your way? Just say, 'Scoot, Veda.' Taken March 18, 2018. Missed every day.

Trinity : Rescued from the pound about 9 weeks of age, Summer 2009. I call her ‘Wiggle Bottoms’, 'Dummy' (lovingly, of course) or ‘Little Bit’. Big time cuddler.

Li : Dog cat. Scarier than both the dogs put together.
